HomeMy WebLinkAbout16756 ORD - 12/16/1981sp;11/23/81;lst AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, 1976 REVISION, AS AMENDED, AND PARTICULARLY AMENDING SECTION 53-254, SCHEDULE V, INCREASE OF STATE SPEED LIMIT IN CERTAIN ZONES, WHICH WILL HAVE THE EFFECT OF SETTING AND RESETTING SPEED LIMITS ON PORTIONS OF NILE DRIVE, AGNES STREET, STAPLES STREET, AND AYERS STREET - AS MORE MORE FULLY SET FORTH HEREIN; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICA- TION; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the Corpus Christi City Code, as amended, be and the same is hereby amended by setting and resetting the speed limits on Nile Drive, Agnes Street, Staples Street, and Ayers Street as follows: Add: "Nile Drive: From Ennis Joslin Road to a point approximately 1,000 feet northeast of Pharaoh Drive -- 35 mph -- At All Times." Agnes Street: Delete "From a point 550 feet west of Baldwin Blvd. to a point 220 feet west of Gibson Lane -- 50 mph -- At All Times." Add in lieu thereof "From a point 550 feet west of Baldwin Blvd. to a point 220 feet west of Gibson Lane -- 40 mph -- At All Times." Staples Street: Delete "From Holly Road to City Limits -- 45 mph -- At All Times." Add in lieu thereof "From Holly Road to Wooldridge Road -- 40 mph -- At All Times" and "From Wooldridge Road to Saratoga Blvd. (City Limits) -- 45 mph -- At All Times." Ayers Street: Delete "From the intersection of Ayers Street and Port Avenue to a point approximately 50 feet north of Johanna Street (Sta. 197+50) -- 40 mph -- At All Times." Add in lieu thereof "From Port Avenue to a point approximately 50 feet north of Johanna Street (Sta. 197+50) -- 35 mph -- At All Times." SECTION 2. Publication shall be made one time in the official publication of the City of Corpus Christi, by publishing the caption of this ordinance, stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance. SECTION 3. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or un- constitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction it shall 'SEP 2 81984 tICROFILMED. w 16756 not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of the City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose.
