AUTHORIZING.EXECUTION OF A LEASE WITH NUECES COUNTY
FOR THE USE OF WING 5 OF THE OLD HILLTOP HOSPITAL AS
A TEMPORARY LOCATION FOR A FIRE TRAINING ACADEMY FOR
THE FIRE DEPARTMENT; AMENDING THE 1981-82 FIRE DEPART-
MENT BUDGET BY CANCELLING THE AUTHORIZATION FOR PUR-
CHASE OF A FIRE TRUCK IN THE FIRE STATIONS ACTIVITY
516.41, CODE 503, AND TRANSFERRING $50,000 FROM FIRE
STATIONS ACTIVITY 516.41, CODE 503, TO THE PUBLIC
SAFETY EQUIPMENT BOND FUND NO. 270 TO SUPPLEMENT UN-
ALLOCATED BOND FUNDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF A FIRE TRUCK,
AND TRANSFERRING $35,000 FOR BUILDING MAINTENANCE AND
$9,000 FOR UTILITIES FROM FIRE STATIONS ACTIVITY 516.
41, CODE 503, TO FIRE ADMINISTRATION AND TRAINING
ACTIVITY 516.11, CODES 345, 312, AND 313, FOR THE MAIN-
TENANCE AND OPERATION OF A FIRE TRAINING ACADEMY, AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That authorization is hereby given for execution
of a lease with Nueces County for the use of Wing 5 of the old Hilltop
Hospital as a temporary location for a fire training academy for the
Fire Department, a substantial copy of which lease is attached hereto
and made a part hereof, marked Exhibit "A".
SECTION 2. That the 1981-82 Fire Department Budget be amended
by cancelling the authorization for purchase of a fire truck in the Fire
Stations Activity 516.41, Code 503, transferring $50,000 from Fire Sta-
tions.Activity 516.41, Code 503, to the Public Safety Equipment Bond
Fund No. 270 to supplement unallocated bond funds for the purchase of
a fire truck; and transferring $35,000 for building maintenance and
$9,000 for utilities from Fire Stations Activity 516.41, Code 503, to
Fire Administration and'Training Activity 516.11, Codes 345, 312 and
313, for, the maintenance and operation of a fire training academy.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five
Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due
to the need for efficient administration of City affairs, such finding
of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter
rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at

three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take
effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the % day

LEASE CONTRACT
THE STATE OF TEXAS
COUNTY OF NUECES
WHEREAS, this agreement is entered into by and between the
County of Nueces, hereinafter referred to as "County", and the City of
Corpus Christi, hereinafter referred to as "City"; and
WHEREAS, County is the owner of the premises described herein
and City desires to lease a portion thereof to be used as a temporary
instruction facility for City's Fire Training Academy.
NOW, THEREFORE, KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS:
For and in consideration of the exchange of mutual covenants
and conditions herein contained to be kept and performed by the parties
hereto, each of which is considered to be a valuable consideration, County
does hereby lease and demise unto City, for a term of two (2) years beginning
on date of execution hereof, the following described property:
A portion of the improvements known as Hilltop
Community Center, located at 11400 Leopard Street
in the City of Corpus Christi, specifically desig-
nated as Wing No. 5 of said structure,being
situated on a tract of land out of the south portion
of Share III, IV, V, and VI of the partition of
lands of C. C. Hart, and being a portion of Survey
304, Abstract 808.
1. City agrees to bear the expense of utilities incurred as
a result of its use of the premises in proportion to area occupied as it
bears to the whole of the building.
2. County agrees that City may remodel and refurbish Wing
No. 5 of the building as is reasonably necessary for its use as a fire
training academy instruction facility.
3. County agrees that parking space will be made available
on the premises as necessary for the use of city personnel in attendance
of fire training programs.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance or resolution,
an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting
upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you
suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
