A RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION BY THE CORPUS CHRISTI CITY COUNCIL ENDOR-
SING AND SUPPORTING THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS
AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION'S•PROPOSED DESIGN LAYOUT FOR
THE RECONSTRUCTION OF THE CALALLEN INTERCHANGE (U.S.77,
F.M. 624, IH 37); AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Highways and Public Transpor-
tation, hereinafter referred to as the State, has completed a new design
layout for the reconstruction of the Calallen Interchange, Control No. 74-6;
and
WHEREAS, such improvements, when completed, will provide for a
more efficient and safer movement of traffic entering and exiting the City
of Corpus Christi through said interchange; and
WHEREAS, the State has requested said resolution supporting the
Calallen Interchange design for the purpose of presentation at various
public hearings;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council generally concurs with State's
proposed design layout of the Calallen Interchange, Control No. 74-6.
SECTION 2. That the City Council requests the State td closely
coordinate the development of the above described project with the City of
Corpus Christi to insure the safest and most effective design which would
provide maximum benefit to the public.
SECTION 3. That the reconstruction of the Calallen Interchange
is a critical improvement to the Calallen area serving both area residents
and other traffic entering and exiting the City of Cornus Christi.
SECTION 4. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need of
endorsing the proposed design layout so that the reconstruction of the
Calallen Interchange can proceed in an orderly manner, such finding of an
emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as
to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular

meetings so that this resolution is passed and shall take effect upon first
reading as an emergency measure this the j day of December, 1981.
