AN ORDINANCE
•AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE
A CONTRACT WITH MAVERICK CONSTRUCTION
COMPANY FOR INSTALLATION OF THE SWANTNER
AND FIFTEENTH STREET DRAINAGE.SYSTEM;
APPROPRIATING $145,000 OUT OF THE NO.
295 STORM SEWER BOND FUND OF WHICH
$133,278.90 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CON-
TRACT AND $9,721.10 IS FOR ADDITIONAL
ENGINEERING LEGAL ADVERTISING, CONTINGEN-
CIES, AND RELATED EXPENSES APPLICABLE TO
PROJECT NO. 295-77-11, SWANTNER AND
FIFTEENTH STREETS EXTENSION; AND DECLAR-
ING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is
hereby authorized to execute a contract with Maverick Con-
struction for installation of the Swantner and Fifteenth
Street Drainage System, all as more fully set forth in the
plans and specifications and contract documents on file in
the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a
part hereof by reference and according to the bid of
Maverick Construction Company opened on the 9th day of
December, 1981, said bid being the lowest and most advan-
tageous to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated
$145,000 out of the No. 295 Storm Sewer Bond Fund of which
$133,278.90 is for the construction contract and $9,721.10
is for additional engineering legal advertising, contingen-
cies and related expenses applicable to Project No. 295-77-
11, Swantner and Fifteenth Street extension.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor
or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare
an emergency due to the need of executing the aforesaid
contract so that construction of the Swantner and Fifteenth
Street drainage system can begin at the earliest date, such
finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring
suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and

voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular
meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take
effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this

an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting
upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you
suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
