AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING CHAPTER 6, ANIMAL CONTROL, OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI CODE OF ORDINANCES TO ALLOW PERSONS OWNING PRO-
HIBITED ANIMALS IN NEWLY ANNEXED AREAS TO APPLY FOR PRO-
HIBITED ANIMAL PERMITS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Section 6-32 (d) of the City of Corpus Christi
Code of Ordinances be amended as follows:
"(d) Any prohibited animal, except:
(i) those which, on the date of publication following
the third and final reading of the ordinance from
which this chapter derives, are present within the
city and are owned by a person who makes applica-
tion to the city health officer for a prohibited
animal permit on or before April 30, 1981, or
(ii) those which, on the date of annexation of newly
annexed territory to the city, are present within
the respective newly annexed territory and are
owned by a person who makes application to the
city health officer for a prohibited animal permit
on or before thirty (30) days after the aforesaid
annexation date,
and who has been granted a prohibited animal permit pursuant to
regulations promulgated by the city health officer and on file
with the city secretary; provided, however, that such permit
shall not be required for a bona fide zoological park, and".
SECTION 2. That persons owning prohibited ahimals present in areas
of the City of Corpus Christi annexed after April 30, 1981, may make applica-
tion to the city health officer for a prohibited animal permit on or before
January 29, 1982.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and decla rean emergency due to the need for
efficient administration of City affairs by amending the ordinance provisions
concerning prohibited animals to permit application by those persons living
in the recently annexed areas, such finding of an emergency is made and declared
requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon
ordinances and resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance
is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure

an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting

suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
