AMENDING ORDINANCE #16619 TO AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF
TEN 35 -FOOT AIR CONDITIONED DIESEL TRANSIT BUSES,
ONE COMPLETE ENGINE ASSEMBLY, ONE COMPLETE TRANS-
MISSION ASSEMBLY, AND ONE COMPLETE AIR CONDITIONING
COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY FROM GILLIG CORPORATION, AS
DIRECTED BY U.M.T.A., AS PROVIDED IN THE 1981
U.M.T.A. CAPITAL GRANT PROJECT NO. TX -05-0073;
APPROPRIATING OUT OF THE NO. 218 TRANSIT BOND
FUND, $122,245.40 TO SUPPLEMENT PREVIOUS APPRO-
PRIATIONS FOR PROJECT NO. 218-77-2 TRANSIT SYSTEM
CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS (1981) FOR THE SAID PURCHASE;
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 16619 be amended so as to authorize,
subject to approval by the Urban Mass Transportation Administration, purchase
of ten 35 -foot diesel transit buses, one complete engine assembly, one complete
transmission assembly, and one complete air conditioning compressor assembly
from Gillig Corporation for $1,291,020 provided for in the 1981 U.M.T.A.
Capital Grant Project No. TX -05-0073.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated out of the No. 218
Transit Bond Fund for Project No. 218-77-2, Transit System Capital Improve-
ments (1981), the amount of $122,245.40 to supplement the appropriation
made by Ordinance No. 16619, for the purchase of said buses, engine assembly,
transmission assembly, and air conditioner compressor assembly.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the public
convenience and necessity of expediting the purchase of the aforesaid equip-
ment, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension
of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions
at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take
effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this 30th day of December,
1981.

an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting

suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
