AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPROVE CHANGE ORDER
NO. 1 IN THE AMOUNT OF $31,931.64 TO THE LEXINGTON
ESTATES - MAHAN ACRES STREET IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT, A
SUBSTANTIAL COPY OF WHICH CHANGE ORDER IS ATTACHED
HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF, MARKED EXHIBIT "A";
APPROPRIATING $33,498.27 OUT OF THE NO. 220 STREET
BOND FUND OF WHICH $31,931.64 IS FOR CHANGE ORDER
NO. 1 AND $1,566.63 IS FOR UNIT PRICE CONTRACT OVER-
RUNS, APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 220-77-2.17,
LEXINGTON ESTATES - MAHAN ACRES STREET IMPROVEMENTS;
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized
to approve Change Order No. 1 in the amount of $31,931.64 to the Lexington
Estates - Mahan Acres Street Improvements Project, a substantial copy of
which change order is attached hereto and made a part hereof, marked Exhibit
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $33,498.27 out of
the No. 220 Street Bond Fund of which $31,931.64 is for Change Order No. 1
and $1,566.63 is for unit price contract overruns, applicable to Project
No. 220-77-2.17, Lexington Estates - Mahan Acres Street Improvements.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
Members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need of
approving the aforementioned change order so that the Lexington Estates -
Mahan Acres Street Improvements Project can proceed on a timely basis, such
finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the
Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions
at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take
effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the ,61, day of
January, 1982.

Why was this change necessary? (If left off the plans and specifications,explain why.)
The overrun on sidewalk was due to the transitions to existing driveways behind the proposed
sidewalk. Additional work on Kosarek was required to match existing pavement and to upgrade
surface drainage (Items 17-20).
How can similar changes be avoided in the future? More thorough investigation during
design stages.
