HomeMy WebLinkAbout16875 ORD - 02/17/1982lw;2-15-82;lst AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING OUT OF THE SIXTH YEAR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT THE SUM OF $190,000 FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE BERNICE LEONARD DAY CARE CENTER BY THE MARY McLEOD BETHUNE DAY NURSERY, INC., TO PRINCIPALLY SERVE CENSUS TRACTS 4 AND 5; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated out of the Sixth Year Community Development Block Grant the sum of $190,000 for the construction of the Bernice Leonard Day Care Center by the Mary McLeod Bethune Day Nursery, Inc., to principally serve Census Tracts 4 and 5. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for efficient administration of City affairs and to provide adequate day nursery care for lower income families, principally in Tracts 4 and 5, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requir- ing suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this /7 day of February, 1982.
