AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI ADOPTED ON THE 27TH DAY OF AUGUST, 1937, '
APPEARING OF RECORD IN VOLUME 9, PAGES 565, ET SEQ
OF THE ORDINANCE AND RESOLUTION RECORDS, AS AMENDED
FROM TIME TO TIME AND PARTICULARLY AS AMENDED BY
ORDINANCE NO. 6106, AS AMENDED, UPON APPLICATION OF
CITY OF"CORPUS CHRISTI BY
AMENDING THE ZONING MAP BY CHANGING THE ZONING ON
TRACT A, A 3.37 -ACRE TRACT IN THE NAME OF GUNDERLAND
MARINE SUPPLY, AND TRACT 8, A .69 ACRE TRACT IN THE
NAME OF SUN OIL PIPELINE COMPANY
SITUATED IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, NUECES COUNTY,
TEXAS, FROM "R-16" ONE FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT
TO 1-2 LIGHT INDUSTRIAL DISTRICI
KEEPING IN EFFECT ALL OTHER PROVISIONS OF THE EXISTING
ORDINANCE AS AMENDED; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has forwarded to the City
Council its reports and recommendations concerning the application
of
City of Corpus Christi
for amendment to the zoning map of the City of Corpus Christi;
WHEREAS, public hearing was held at which hearing all persons
wishing to appear and be heard were heard, to consider the same before
the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, in accordance with proper
notice to the public, said public hearing having been held on Wednesday,
March 10, 1982
, at Regular Council Meeting
of the City Council in the Council Chamber at City Hall_in the City of
Corpus Christi; and
WHEREAS, by motion duly made, seconded and carried, it was
decided by the City Council that to approve the hereinafter set forth
amendment would best serve public health, necessity and convenience and
the general welfare of the City of Corpus Christi and its citizens:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,,TEXAS.:
SECTION 1. That the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, passed on the 27th day of August, 1937, appearing of
record in Volume 9, pages 565, et seq, of the Ordinance and Resolution
Records, as amended from time to time, and in particular as amended by
Ordinance No. 6106, as amended, be and the same is hereby amended by
making the change hereinafter set out.

SECTION 2. That the zoning of Tract A, being a 3.37 -acre tract
in the name of Gunderland Marine Supply, and Tract 6, being a .69 -acre tract
in the name of Sun Oil Pipeline Company, more fully described hereinafter,
be and the same is hereby changed from "R-16" One Family Dwelling District to
"I-2" Light Industrial District, said tracts being described as follows:
Tract A
" Being a 3.37 acre tract of laud, now or formerly in the name of
Gunderland Marine Supply, situated at the and of Kaler Drive and to the West
of Cantwell Lane, said area being more particularly described by metes and
bounds as follows;
. BEGINNING at the City of Corpus Christi City limite line, the
Northwest right-of-way line of Cantwell Lane at its intersection with the
North line of Kaler Partition, Share No. 3-A, the South line of said 3.37
acre tract for the Soutteast.corner of this description;
THENCE in a Northwesterly direction with the South line of said
3.37 acre tract,.a distance of approximately 501 feet to its Southwest
corner thereof;
THENCE in a Northerly direction with the West line of said 3.37
acre tract, a distance of approximately 293 feet for the Northwest corner
thereof; • . ,
' THENCE in a Southeasterly direction with the North line of said
3.37 acre tract, a distance of approximately 501 feet to itsNortheast
corner thereof;
-- THENCE in a Southerly direction with the East line of,said 3.37
acre tract, a distance of approximately 293 feet to its Southeast corner thereof
on the West right-of-way line of Cantwell Lane to the POINT OF BEGINNING.
Containing 3.37 acres of land more or less.

Being a 0.69 acre tract, now or formerly in the name of Sun Oil .
Pipeline Company, located approximately 300•feet Southeast of Cantwell.Lane
and abutting the North R.O.W. line of Up River Road, said area being more •
particularly described by metes and bounds as follows;
BEGINNING at a point, the intersection of the Southeast R.O.W.
line of Cantwell Lane aad the North R.O.W. line of Up River Road;

• THENCE in a Southeasterly direction with the North R.O.W. line
of Up River Road (the present City Limit line), a distance of approximately
.300 feet to a point, the ilointrof beginning for the 'West corner of this •
description;

THENCE in a Northerly direction with the Vest line of said 0.69
acre tract, the same being the East line of a 1.0 acre tract now or formerly
in the flame of Jas 1e1anger, a distance of aPkbximately 190 feet for the
Korth corner of said 0.69 acre tract; .
THENCE in a Southeasterly direction with the North line of said
0.69 acre tract, a distance of approximately 190 feet to an inside corner
of a 13.86 acre tract now or formerly in the name -of Su4ide Refining Company
for the East corner of this description;
. THENCE in a Southwesterly direction with the East line of said
0.69 acre tract, the same being the Southerly West line of said 13.86 acre
tract, a distance of approximately 200 feet to a point on the present City
Limit line (the North R.O.W. line of Up River Road) for the South corner
of this description;
THEOCk in a Northwesterly direction with the present City Limit
line (the North R.O.W. line of Up River Road), a distance of approximately
130 feet to the POINT. OF BEGINNING.
Containing 0.69 acres of land more or less.
SECTION 3. That the official zoning map of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, be, and the same is hereby, amended as herein ordained.
SECTION 4.. That the Zoning Ordinance and Map of the City of
Corpus Christi, Texas, approved on the 27th day of August, 1937, as
amended from time to time, except as herein changed, shall remain in
full force and effect.
- SECTION 5. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict

herewith are hereby expressly repealed.
SECTION 6. That upon written request of the Mayor or five
Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due
to the need for efficient administration of City affairs by granting
the aforesaid zoning change, such finding of an emergency is made and
declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration
and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings
'so that this ordinance is passed and shall ta1e effect upon first "
reading as an emergency measure this the /0 day of March , 1982.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance or resolution,
an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting
upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings; 1/we, therefore, request that you
suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is,
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
