AUTHORIZING CONTRACT WITH MAVERICK ENGINEERING COMPANY
FOR PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE WOOLDRIDGE ROAD
SANITARY SEWER TRUNK AND APPROPRIATING $22,500 FOR
SAID CONTRACT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized
to execute a contract with Maverick Engineering Company for preparation of
plans and specifications for the Wooldridge Road Sanitary Sewer Trunk from
Cimmaron Boulevard to near South Staples Street, all as more fully set forth
in the contract, a substantial copy of which is attached hereto and made a
part hereof, marked Exhibit "A".
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $22,500 out of the
No. 250 Sanitary Sewer Bond Fund applicable to Project No. 250-77-40,
Wooldridge Road Trunk (London House Apartments).
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for
efficient administration of City affairs by authorizing the aforesaid contract
and appropriation of funds therefor, such finding of an emergency is made
and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and
voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that
this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an
emergency measure this the 4V.$1" day of March, 1982.

THE STATE OF TEXAS
COUNTY OF NUECES
THE City of Corpus Christi, hereinafter called "City", and Maverick
Engineering Company, hereinafter called "Engineer", whether one or more, agree
as follows:
Services to be Performed
1. Engineer agrees to prepare plans and specifications for sanitary
sewer improvements in Wooldridge Road between Cimmaron Boulevard and South Staples
Street to basic Master Sanitary Sewer criteria as directed by the City. This
project is related to the platting and development of an 19.394 acre tract of
land proposed to be known as London House Apartments. The Engineer will design
a sanitary sewer system or systems as follows:
(a) an 8 inch diameter line as an offsite line for the
London House tract
(b) a trunk line to serve the area per City proposals
to amend the Master Sanitary Sewer Plan with the
trunk line to serve 325 acres
(c) the westerly extension of the trunk line per (b)
above from a point adjacent to the London House
tract toward South Staples Street as directed by
the City
(d) all design work and specifications for the project
shall meet applicable standards and specifications
of the City.
Order of Services
2. Engineer agrees to furnish plans and specifications suitable
for advertising, complete with proposals showing bidding information for items
1(a), 1(b), and 1(c) shown herein within 30 days of approval of this contract.
Printing
3. Engineer agrees to furnish 5 sets of plans and 20 sets of
specifications with proposals for advertising at his own expense. Any
additional printing will be performed by the City at City expense.
Additional Services
4. The Engineer agrees to prepare bid tabulation sheets, monthly
estimates, change orders, interpret plans and/or specifications, make periodic
site visits and otherwise assist the City in the construction phase of the
project and provide staking services as required.

Fee For Basic Services
5. The City will pay the Engineer a fee of 7.5% of the cost of
construction of the project which is estimated to cost 8300,000.00. Actual
fee May vary subject to the actual award of a contract when bid prices are
known. Payment of this fee may be billed by the Engineer as 50% of the 7.5%
fee upon the award of a contract for the work with the remaining 50% of the
7.5% fee billed on a pro -rata basis as indicated on monthly estimates. In the
event a contract is not awarded the City will pay the Engineer an amount not to
exceed 80% of 30% of the 7.5% fee as indicated herein for completion of plans
and specifications.
Engineer's Liability
6. Acceptance and approval of the final plans by the City shall not
constitute nor be deemed a release of this responsibility and liability of the
Engineer, its employees, associates, agents and consultants, for the accuracy
and competence of their Designs, Working drawings, and Specifications or other
Documents and work; nor shall such approval be deemed to be an assumption of
such responsibility by the City for any defect in Designs, Working drawings and
Specifications or other Documents prepared by Engineer, its employees, subcon-
tractor, agents and consultants.
Ownership of Documents
7. Upon completion of the project (or upon termination of this
contract if previously terminated) the Engineer shall furnish to the City, in
a suitable container for filing, "Record Drawings", reproduced on linen or
mylar drafting film from the original drawings, together with a correct and
.legible set of specifications.
