AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT WITH KING CONSTRUCTION
COMPANY FOR SOUTHERN STREET IMPROVEMENTS AND
APPROPRIATING $300,000 FOR THE PROJECT; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is Jlereby authorized
to execute a contract with King Construction Company for improvements to
Southern Street, Ocean Drive to Alameda Street, all as more fully set forth
in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office
of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and
according to the bid of King Construction Company, opened on the 10th day
of February , 1982, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous
to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated out of the No. 220
Street Bond Fund the sum of $300,000, of which $270,374.20 is for the construc-
tion contract and 129,625.80 is for additional engineering, legal advertising,
contingencies and related expenses applicable to Project No. 220-77-2.20,
Southern Street, Ocean Drive to South Alameda Street.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need
for preserving public property by executing the above contract and expediting
construction of necessary public street improvements, such finding of an
emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as
to consideration
