HomeMy WebLinkAbout16983 ORD - 04/07/1982AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT WITH CIVIL CONSTRUCTORS, INC. FOR HURRICANE ALLEN DAMAGE REPAIRS TO THE BAYFRONT PARKS AND APPROPRIATING $505,000 FOR SAID REPAIRS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be authorized to execute a con- tract with Civil Constructors, Inc. for'repair of Hurricane Allen damage to the Bayfront Parks, all as more fully set forth in the plans and specifications and contract document on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Civil Constructors, Inc., opened on the 17th day of February, 1982, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas.. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of $505,000 for the aforesaid construction contract, for engineering, legal advertising, contingencies and related expenses, as follows: $485,000 out of the No. 291 Park Bond Fund, Project 291-77-3.2, Bayfront Parks, Hurricane Allen Repairs (of which amount $283,100.14 will be reimbursed by FEMA); $20,000 out OF the No. 295 Storm Sewer Bond Fund, Project No. 295-77-18, Bayfront Parks - Hurricane Allen Repair; of which total appropriation, /1.81,359.91 is for the construction contract and.S23,640.09 is for additional engineering, legal advertising, contingencies and related expenses. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for efficient administration of City affairs by authorizing the aforesaid agree- ment and appropriation of funds therefor, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings to that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reas'ing as an emergency measure this the 7 day of April, 1982.
