AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING SECTION 6-30(e) TO PROHIBIT THE SALE OR DELIVERY
OF LIVE CHICKENS, DUCKLINGS, GOSLINGS, OR RABBITS LESS
THAN EIGHT WEEKS TO ANY PERSON WITHIN A PERIOD 10 DAYS
PRIOR TO EASTER SUNDAY IN QUANTITIES LESS THAN FIVE;
PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
SECTION 1. That Section 6-30(e) be amended to read as follows:
"Live chickens, ducklings, goslings, or rabbits less than eight (8)
weeks of age, may not be sold or delivered in quantities of less than five
(5) to any person within the period ten (10) days prior to Easter Sunday."
SECTION 2. Publication shall be made one time in the official
publication of the City of Corpus 'Christi, by publishing the caption of this
ordinance stating in substance the purpose, intent, and effect of the
aforesaid ordinance.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need of
protecting aforementioned animals, such finding of an emergency is made and
declared requiring suspension -of the Charter rule as to consideration and
voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this
ordinance is passed an shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency
measure this the day of April, 1982.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance or resolution,
an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting
upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings; 1/we, therefore, request that you
suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it 15
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
