AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT
WITH A. ORTIZ ASPHALT PAVING COMPANY FOR RECONSTRUCTION
OF NORTH SHORELINE BOULEVARD IMPROVEMENTS AND APPROPRIAT-
ING $598,000 FOR THE CONTRACT, ENGINEERING AND RELATED
EXPENSES; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS;
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized
to execute a contract with A. Ortiz Asphalt Paving Company for the reconstruc-
tion of North Shoreline Boulevard from Canal Street to Coastal Street, all as
more fully set forth in the plans and specifications and contract documents
on file in the office of the City Secretary, all or which are made a part
hereof by reference and according to the bid of A. Ortiz Asphalt Paving Company,
opened on the 3rd day of March, 1982, said bid being the lowest and most
advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas:
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated out of the No. 220
Street Bond Fund the sum of $598,000 of which $557,097.86 is for the construc-
tion contract and $40,902.14 is for additional engineering, legal advertising,
laboratory testing, incidental and contingency expenses applicable to Project
No. 220-77-5, North Shoreline Boulevard, Canal to Coastal.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to
take iffmediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting
the construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is
made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration
and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that
this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency
measure this the 28th day of April, 1982.
