AMENDING SECTION 2-20 OF THE CITY CODE SO AS TO COMPLY
WITH THE CITY CHARTER TO ALLOW MEETINGS AS LEAST ONCE
A WEEK AT CITY HALL OR AT SUCH OTHER GOVERNMENTALLY
OWNED PLACE WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS AND AT SUCH
OTHER TIME AS DESIGNATED BY THE MAYOR, THE MAYOR PRO
TEM, THE CITY MANAGER OR BY A MAJORITY OF THE MEMBERS
THEREOF; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Section 2-20 of the City Code be amended to
read:
"Section 2-20. When and where meetings to be held.
The City Council shall meet in regular session at least once
each week at the City Hall or other governmentally owned place within
the corporate limits and at such other time as designated by the
Mayor, the Mayor Pro Tem, the City Manager or by a majority of the
members thereof."
SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five
Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to
the need for efficient and effective administration of City affairs,
such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension
of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or
resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed
and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this •

an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting
upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings; 1/we, therefore, request that you
suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
