HomeMy WebLinkAbout17047 ORD - 05/19/1982lw;5-6-82;2nd AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 17, FINANCE AND TAXATION, OF THE CITY CODE BY ADDING A NEW SECTION TO EXEMPT THE SALE OF SURPLUS LIBRARY BOOKS AND MATERIALS FROM THE REQUIREMENT OF DETERMINING IF SUCH MATERIALS MAY BE UTILIZED BY OTHER DEPARTMENTS BEFORE BEING OFFERED FOR SALE TO THE PUBLIC. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Chapter 17 of the City Code, entitled FINANCE AND TAXATION, be amended by adding a new section, to be numbered 17-4-1 and reading as follows: SECTION 17-4.1 Sale of Surplus Library Books and Other Printed and Non -Print Materials. A. The sale of surplus library books and other printed and non -print materials are exempt from the provisions of Section 17-4 and shall be subject to provisions of this Section 17-4.1 as hereinafter provided. (1) The Director of Libraries shall determine which library books and other printed and non -print materials are surplus to the City's libraries and report in writing to the City Manager, requiring authority to sell such surplus library books and materials, in units of one or more, at one or more periodic sales or at a continuous daily or weekly sale conducted at one or more libraries. (2) The City Manager shall nbtify the Director of Libraries and the Director of Finance, in writing, of his approval of the sale of surplus library books and materials, (3) The Director of Finance shall, imediately upon the receipt of such notification from the City Manager, proceed to establish appropriate procedures controlling the sales of surplus library books and materials and the cash receipts resulting from such sales.
