AMENDING THE CORPUS CHRISTI CITY CODE BY ADDING SECTION
11 TO CHAPTER 36, PARKS, RECREATION, CULTURAL ACTIVITIES,
ARTICLE I, IN GENERAL, ESTABLISHING A CURFEW AND
PROHIBITING ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES FROM 12:00 MIDNIGHT UNTIL
7:00 A.M. IN GENERAL PARKS AND TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL PARK
SECURITY; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
SECTION 1. That the Corpus Christi City Code be amended by adding
Section 36-11 "Curfew; Alcoholic Beverages" to Chapter 36, establishing a
curfew from 2:00 a.m. until 6:00 a.m. and prohibiting alcoholic beverages
from 12:00 midnight until 7:00 a.m. in the following bayfront and open space
parks: Poenisch, Cole, Doddridge, Palmetto, Ropes, Swantner, West Guth, and
South Bluff Parks, in the interest of the public welfare and to provide
additional park security, the new Section 36-11 to read as follows:
"Sec. 36-11. Curfew; Alcoholic Beverages.
Between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. no person shall enter or be
present in the following parks or the parking lots connected therewith or
adjacent thereto: Poenisch, Cole, Doddridge, Palmetto, Ropes, Swantner, West
Guth, and South Bluff; except for City employees in the performance of their
duties. Between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 7:00 a.m. no person shall
possess any alcoholic beverage in any of said parks."
SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to
take immediate action in the best interest of the public welfare, such
finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the
Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at
three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect
upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 26th day of May, 1982.

suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it i -
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
