AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE UPON APPLICATION OF
TONNIE SMETHERS BY CHANGING THE ZONING MAP IN RE-
FERENCE TO THE SOUTH ONE-HALF OF THE NORTHWEST
ONE-FOURTH OF SECTION 409, A B & M SURVEY, ABSTRACT
555 NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS FROM "R-18" ONE -FAMILY
DWELLING DISTRICT TO "I-2" LIGHT INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT;
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has forwarded to the City Council
its reports and recommendations concerning the application of Tonnie Smethers
for amendment to the zoning map of the City of Corpus Christi;
WHEREAS, public hearing was held at which hearing all persons
wishing to appear and be heard were heard, to consider the same before the
City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, in accordance with proper notice
to the public, said public hearing having been held on Wednesday, May 26,
1982, at Regular Council meeting of the City Council in the Council Chamber
of City Hall in the City of Corpus Christi; and
WHEREAS, by motion duly made, seconded and carried, it was decided
by the City Council that to approve the hereinafter set forth amendment would
best serve public health, necessity and convenience and the general welfare
of the City of Corpus Christi and its citizens:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, is amended by making the change hereinafter set out.
SECTION 2. That the zoning of the hereinafter more fully described
parcel or tract of land, being the south one-half of the northwest one-fourth
of Section 409, A.B.& M.Survey, Abstract 555, Nueces County, Texas, be changed
from "R-16" One Family Dwelling District to "I-2" Light Industrial District,
said parcel or tract being described as follows:
A tract out of the South One -Half (1/2) of the Northwest
One -Fourth (1/4) of Section 409, A.B.& M. Survey, Abstract
555, Nueces County, Texas, being bounded on the west by the
present city limits of Corpus Christi and on the east by
McKenzie Road and being more particularly described by metes
and bounds as follows:
COMMENCING at the'northwest corner of Section 409:
THENCE with the west boundary of Section 409 South 000

THENCE North 89° 58' 40" East 900 feet to the point of
intersection with the present city limits of the city
of Corpus Christi, Texas, for the northwest corner
and POINT OF BEGINNING of the tract herein described;
THENCE continuing North 89° 58' 40" East 1735.5 feet to
a point on the west boundary of McKenzie Road, having
a present right-of-way width of 80 feet, for the north-
east corner of this tract;
THENCE with the west boundary of McKenzie Road the east
boundary of this tract South 00°01'20" East 1320.5 feet
to a point for the southeast corner of this tract;
THENCE South 89°5840" West 200 feet to the point of
intersection with the present city limits for a corner;
THENCE with the city limits boundary and the westerly
boundary of this tract North 49°19'38" West 2025.21 feet
to the POINT OF BEGINNING, containing in all 29.34
acres, more or less.
SECTION 3. That the official zoning map of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, be, and the same is hereby, amended as herein ordained.
SECTION 4. That the. Zoning Ordinance and Map of the City of -
Corpus Christi, Texas, approved on the 27th day of August, 1937, as
amended from time to time, except as herein changed, shall remain in
full force and effect.
SECTION 5. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby expressly repealed.
SECTION 6. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for
efficient administration of City affairs by granting the aforesaid zoning
change, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension
of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or
resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall
take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the '9;7417 day

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance or resolution,
an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting
upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings; 1/we, therefore, request that you
suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it i$
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
