HomeMy WebLinkAbout17069 1/2 ORD - 06/09/1982AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT WITH HELDENFELS BROTHERS, INC. FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE NORTH CORPUS CHRISTI BEACH PARKING LOT AND THE HILLCREST PARK MULTI-PURPOSE PLAYCOURT, AND APPROPRIATING $75,000 FOR THE SAID PROJECT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Heldenfels Brothers, Inc., for construction of the North Corpus Christi Beach Parking Lot and the Hillcrest Park Multi - Purpose Playcourt, all as more fully set.forth in the plans and specifica- tions and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Heldenfels Brothers, Inc., opened on the 26th day of May, 1982, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of $75,000 of which $12,987 is out of the No. 162 Federal/State Grant Fund, Department 266, Activity 804.02, Code 502 HCRS Grant, and $62,013 is out of the No. 291 Park Bond Fund for Project No. 291-77-2, Corpus Christi Beach Improve- ments; of the funds hereby appropriated $67,649.50 is for the construction contract and $7,350.50 is for additional engineering, legal advertising, contingencies and related expenses. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to take immediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting the construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the day of June, 1982.
