WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council and of the community '
to have as many young people of high school age gainfully employed as possible:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Corpus Christi businesses, both large and small,
be urged to make additional summer jobs available for youth, and that they
contact the Youth Service Program, at 888-9292, for referrals.
SECTION 2. ,That upon request of the Mayor or five Council members,
copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to urge
local business establishments to provide gainful employment for as many
young people as possible during the summer months, such finding of an
emg-gency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule
as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three
regular meetings so that this resolution is passed and shall take effect
upon first reading as an emergency measure this theA/Q( day of June,
1982.

an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting
upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings; 1/we, therefore, request that you
suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is.
