AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT WITH AMERICAN ROOFING AND
CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE AGNES-
LAREDO TRIANGLE MEDIAN PROJECT; APPROPRIATING $45,000
FOR SAID PROJECT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS,
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized
to execute a contract with American Roofing and Construction Company, for
construction of the Agnes -Laredo Triangle Median project, all as more
fully set forth in the plans and specifications and contract documents
on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a
part hereof by reference and according to the bid of American Roofing
and Construction Company, opened on the 12th day of May, 1982, said bid
being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of $45,000
out of the No. 162 Federal/State Grant Fund, Department 152, Activity
807.03, Code 502, Fifth Year Community Development Block Grant of which
$42,785.19 is for the construction contract and $2,214.81 is for additional
engineering, legal advertising, contengencies and related expenses.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor of five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to
take immediate action to preserve and protqct public property by expediting
the construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made
and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and
voting upon ordinaces or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this
ordinance is passed nd shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency
measure this the day of June, 1982.
