HomeMy WebLinkAbout17080 RES - 06/16/1982lw;6-15-82;lst A RESOLUTION DECLARING THAT THE NEED FOR STREET IMPROVEMENTS TO FLORES STREET, FROM HIGHWAY 44 TO LIPAN STREET, NO LONGER EXISTS AND AUTHORIZING THE USE OF $115,000 IN GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS APPROVED BY THE VOTERS IN 1967 TO BE USED FOR OTHER STREET IMPROVEMENTS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the need for street improvements to Flores Street, from Highway 44 to Lipan Street, for which $115,000 in General Obligation Bonds were approved by the citizen -voters of Corpus Christi in 1967, no longer exists, and the intent of the bond authorization has been met thus eliminating the public need for this project, the use of the aforesaid funds for other street improvements as approved by the City Council is hereby approved and authorized. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the immediate need for efficient and effective administration of City affairs by declaring that the need for the street improvements to Flores Street, above described, no longer exists and that the funds allocated for the project be approved for other street improvements, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this resolution is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the /,‘ day of June, 1982.
