AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING THE 1981-82 BUDGET BY REAPPROPRIATING
$75,000 FROM THE GENERAL FUND RESERVE FOR TRANSFER
TO POLICE ADMINISTRATION AND AUTHORIZING REIMBURSE-
MENT TO THE SELF INSURANCE FUND FOR LEGAL FEES IN
DEFENSE OF INDIVIDUAL OFFICERS IN THE AMERICAN CIVIL
LIBERTIES UNION LAWSUITS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the 1981-82 budget be amended by reappropriating
$75,000 from the General Fund Reserve for transfer to Police Administra-
tion (Activity 515.11, Code 301, Professional Services) and authorizing
reimbursement to the Self Insurance Fund for legal fees in defense of
individual officers in the American Civil Liberties Union lawsuits.
SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the immed-
iate need for efficient and effective administration of City affairs
by amending the budget as set out above, such finding of an emergency is
made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to considera-
tion and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regtilar meetings
so that this ordinance is passed and shall tak effect upon first reading
as an emergency measure this the 43 day of , 1982.
