AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING MODIFICATION TO LEASE AGREEMENT WITH
AMERICAN AIRLINES, INC., FOR ADDITIONAL TICKET COUNTER
SPACE AT THE CORPUS CHRISTI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized
to execute a modification to the lease agreement with American Airlines, Inc.,
for additional ticket counter space in the Terminal Building at the Corpus
Christi International Airport, at an annual rate of $1,068.48, payable
monthly in advance in the amount of $89.04, with the lease to be on a month-
to-month basis until leases with all airline tenants are executed, all as
more fully set forth in the modification agreement, a substantial copy of
which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, marked Exhibit "A."
SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for
immediate and efficient utilization of the City's airport which demands the
prompt attention of the Council, such finding of an emergency is made and
declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and
voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this
ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first readtng as an emergency
measure this the (V day of July, 1982.

The City of Corpus Christi and American Airlines agree to supplement
the lease agreement pertaining to lease of space in the Terminal Building
dated April 29, 1981 and approved by Ordinance No. 16204 to read as follows:
In order for American Airlines to better accommodate their increased
passenger traffic, the City of Corpus Christi rents to American Airlines an addi-
tional 96 square feet of space in the Terminal Building as shown on attached
Exhibit "A" to be used on an exclusive basis for installation of an additional
ticket counter and extending the baggage conveyor system.
American is hereby authorized to make necessary temporary changes to
Terminal Building as may be required, all at the sole expense of American. All
temporary improvements shall be removed by American when additional ticketing
facilities are made available following the programmed expansion of the ticket-
ing wing. Said space shall be leased on a month-to-month ba-sis until leases
areconsumated with all user airlines.
Rentals shall be calculated at the rate of 11.13 per square foot
per year, payable monthly in the amount of $89.04 to the Director of Aviation
at his office in Nueces County, Texas.

an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting
upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings; 1/we, therefore, request that you
suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
