HomeMy WebLinkAbout17133 ORD - 07/21/1982AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT WITH MORMAC CONSTRUCTION CO. FOR CONSTRUCTION OF GLENOAK STORM SEWER; APPROPRIATING $276,000 FOR THE CONTRACT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Mormac Construction Company for construction of the Glenoak Storm Sewer, all as more fully set forth in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Mormac Construction Company opened on the 23rd day of June, 1982, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $276,000 out of the No. 295 Storm Sewer Bond Fund of which $262.039.80 is for the construction contract and $13,960.20 is for additional engineering, legal advertising, laboratory testing and contingency expenses applicable to project No. 295-77- 6, Glenoak Drive Extension. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to take immediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting the construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to considera- tion and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this ?rday of July, 1982.
