AMENDING CHAPTER 36 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES TO INCREASE
RENTAL RATES F,OR THE CONVENTION CENTER, AUDITORIUM,
COLISEUM, AND EXPOSITION HALL.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Code of Ordinances, City of Corpus Christi,
1976 Revision, as amended, Chapter 36, Article II, Coliseum and Exposition
Hall, Section 36-41, Basic rate table of rentals, be amended by amending the
rates in Paragraph (A), Class I, Commercial to read as follows:
Exposition Hall Coliseum
Evening $195.00 $495.00
Daytime 160.00 380.00
Move -in, move -out 170.00 435.00
All day 380.00 900.00
Overtime and rehearsals 40.00 80.00
That Paragraph (8), Class II, Noncommercial -Profitmaking rate table
be amended to read as follows:
Exposition Hall Coliseum

That Paragraph (E), Class V, Athletic events rate be amended to
read 1360.00 or 5 percent."
SECTION 2. That Section 36-43, Classification of special services
and schedule of charges, be amended to read as follows:
(A) Public address:
House system (per calendar day) $11.00
Portable (per calendar day) 6.00
(B) Spotlights (carbon arcs per performance per light) 30.00
Other (fresnels, strips, etc., per performance, per unit). 4.00
(C) Tables (for the duration of the activity), each 1.00

SECTION 3. That the rates in Section 36-45, Catering, be amended
to read as follows:
Nonprofessional catering: $15.00 per location
Professional catering: $15.00 per location or eleven cents ($0.11) per
plate, whichever is greater.
SECTION 4. That the minimum and maximum rates in Section 36-47,
When coliseum leased for continuing weekly performances, be amended to read
a minimum of two hundred twenty dollars ($220.00) and a maximum of five
hundred fifty dollars ($550.00)."
SECTION 5. That the rates in Article III, Section 36-83, Rental of
the Auditorium Theatre, Paragraph A, Rentals, Subsection 1, Class I, be
amended to read "7 percent of the gross receipts (after taxes), with a
minimum rental fee of $660.00, and a maximum rental fee not to exceed
$1,470.00."
That the rate in Subsection 3, Class III, be amended to read
"$440.00 flat fee for a single four-hour session" and "those events taking an
offering will be charged $660.00 for a single session."
That the rate in Subsection 4, Class IV, be amended to read "For
each subscription and children's performance, a fee of twelve percent (12%)
of the gross ticket sales in excess of $7,300.00 will be charged, except that
the minimum fee shall be $440.00 and the maximum fee shall be $1,470.00 for
any one performance."
That the rate in Subsection 6, Rehearsals and/or Set-up (on stage),
Item b, be amended to read "b. Other than performance date: $165.00"
SECTION 6. That the rates in Section 36-84, Rental of Auditorium
Support Facilities (Rehearsal Hall and Lounge), Paragraph A, Rehearsal Hall
or Lounge, be amended to read as follows:
1. Rehearsals: $55.00 per day.
2. Exhibits: $110.00 per day.

3. Meetings:
a. Between the hours of 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday -Friday: $85.00
b. Evenings, weekends, and holidays: $140.00
4. Receptions and/or Food Functions (catered events):
a. Between the hours of 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday -Friday: $110.00
b. Evenings, weekends, and holidays: $165.00
SECTION 7. That the rates in Section 36-85, Rental of the Main
Exhibit Hall, Paragraph C, Consumer Shows (open to the public), Subsection 1,
Exhibit Rate, Items a and b be amended to read as follows:
a. Ten percent (10%) of the gross ticket sales, or $1,320.00,
whichever is greater. Set-up not included.
b. One day furnished at no charge for each "open" day for either
move -in or moveout. Additional days will be $660.00, if available.
' That Paragraph C, Consumer Shows (open to the public), Subsection
2, Show Rate (Promotional Concerts and Dances), Items a and c be amended to
read as follows:
a. Ten percent (10%) of the gross ticket sales with $1,320.00 per
show minimum charge. Set-up of a standard -size stage and up to 2,500 chairs
included.
c. No additional charge for move -in or move -out on the performance
day. Additional days will be $660.00 per day, if available.
SECTION 8. That the rates in Section 36-86, Rental of the Banquet
Hall (Room #203), Paragraph A, Exhibit Use for Conventions and Trade Shows,
Subsection I be amended to read as follows:
1. Eight cents ($.08) per net square foot of exhibit space used,
with a mimimum daily fee of $440.00 for Room 203A, $220.00 for Room 2038, or
$550.00 for the combined hall.
That the rates in Paragraph 8, Non -Profit Meetings, Banquets, and
Dances, be amended to read

1. 203A: $330.00 per day
2. 2038: $220.00 per day
3. 203A and 2036 Combined: $440.00 per day
That the rates in Paragraph C, Consumer Shows (open to the public),
be amended to read:
1. Exhibit Rate
a. Ten percent (10%) of the gross ticket sales with a minimum
daily charge of $550.00 for Room 203A, $220.00 for Room 2038, or $660.00 for
the combined hall.
2. Show Rate (Promotional Dances and Concerts)
Ten percent (10%) of the gross ticket sales with a minimum
charge of $660.00 for the combined hall performance.
SECTION 9. That the rates in Section 36-87, Commercial Rates for
the Convention Center Meeting Rooms, be amended to read as follows:

SECTION 9. That the rates in Section 36-88, Rental of the Plaza,
Paragraph A, Regular charge, be amended to read: "Regular charge: $110.00
per day if rented in conjunction with either the Exhibit Hall, Banquet Hall
or Auditorium. Otherwise, the rental fee for the Plaza will be $220.00 per
day."

That Paragraph B, Catered Functions, shall be amended to read:
$110.00 per day plus catering fee if rented in conjunction with either the
Exhibit Hall, Banquet Hall or Auditorium. Otherwise, the rental fee for the
Plaza will be $220.00 per day plus the catering fee."
SECTION 10. That the rates in Section 36-89, Rental of City -owned
Equipment, be amended to read as follows:
A. Installation and use of risers: $3.30 for each 4'x8' section,
and $4.40 for each 6'x8section, as available (installed) for the term of
the event.
B. Installation/Removal of the Orchestra Pit Filler: $55.00 to
put it in and $55 to take it out.
C. Installation/Removal of the Thrust Stage Extension: $55.00 to
put it in and $55.00 to take it out.
G. Super Trouper Spotlights: $30.00 each per day.
I. Fork Lift without attendant: $11.00 per hour
J. Lock Cylinder Charge: $33.00 each.
K. Portable Dance Floor: $1.10 for each 3'x3' section (installed)
SECTION 11. That the rates in Section 36-90, Box Office Services,
Paragraph A, Service Defined, Subsection 1, Advanced Sale, be amended to
read: "As compensation for this service, each remote location may collect a
thirty cent ($0.30) surcharge which shall be added to the face value of each
ticket sold by said remote location."'
That Paragraph B, Box Office Fee Schedule, Item 1, be amended to
read: "For advance ticket sales, each Lessee who utilizes the City Box Office
Service shall pay a fee of $220.00 per week, two week minimum, or 3 percent
(31) of the gross ticket sales, whichever is greater. In the event of
cancellation, the Lessee will be charged the minimum fee for each week the
tickets are on sale with a one week minimum charge. Single days will be
pro -rated."
That Item 2, Mail Orders or Credit Card Orders (not at outlets), be
amended to read: "When advance ticket sales are conducted by mail order, a
handling fee of 300 shall be added to the face value of each ticket purchased
to cover the cost of postage, envelopes, and handling."

SECTION 12. That the rates in Section 36-91, Catering, be amended
to read as follows: "The catering fee will be 10 percent (10%) of the gross
receipts, or $220.00 whichever is greater.
SECTION 13. This ordinance shall be effective from and upon its
passage and publication unless otherwise stipulated.
SECTION 14. Publication shall be made one time in the official
publication of the City of Corpus Christi, which publication shall contain
the caption stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance.
