HomeMy WebLinkAbout17219 ORD - 08/25/1982AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF EXCESS COMPREHENSIVE GENERAL AND AUTOMOTIVE LIABILITY INSURANCE OVER THE CITY'S FIRST MILLION DOLLARS OF SELF-INSURANCE FROM ARTHUR J. GALLAGHER AND COMPANY; APPROPRIATING FUND FOR SUCH PURCHASE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That there is hereby authorized the purchase of excess Comprehensive General and Automotive liability insurance over the City's first million dollars self-insurance from Arthur J. Gallagher and Company as follows: First $ 5,000,000 $270,000.00 Second 5,000,000 44,434.38 Third 5,000,000 15,000.00 Total $15,000,000 $329,434.38 SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $50,000 out of Fund 113, Insurance Fund unappropriated fund balance and $9,434.38 out of the General Fund Reserve as additional contribution to the insurance fund for .purchase of a $5,000,000 layer of excess Auto and General liability insurance for $44,434.38 and an additional $5,000,000 layer for $15,000 to supplement money appropriated in the 1982-83 budget for the first $5,000,000 layer. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for efficient administration of city affairs by purchase of the aforementioned excess liability insurance, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the ;2:2)70(day of August, 1982.
