HomeMy WebLinkAbout17296 ORD - 10/13/1982L- AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT WITH ASPHALT PAVING AND CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR THE SPOHN HOSPITAL AREA STREET IMPROVEMENTS; APPROPRIATING $1,420,000 FOR THE CONTRACT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be authorized to execute a contract with Asphalt Paving and Construction Company for the Spohn Hospital Area Street Improvements, all as more fully set forth in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Asphalt Paving and Construction Company, opened on the 4th day of August, 1982, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $1,420,000 of which $981,478.83 is out of the No. 162 Federal States Grant Fund, Activity 152-807.04, Code 502, Spohn Hospital Area, Sixth Year Community Development Block Grant and $438,521.17 is out of the No. 220 Street Bond Fund of which appropriation $1,379,407.10 is for the contract award and $40,592.90 is for additional engineering, testing, legal advertising, and incidental and related expenses applicable to Project No. 220-77-2.15, Spohn Hospital Area Street Improvements. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to take immediate action to expedite the construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and hall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the day of October 1982.
