HomeMy WebLinkAbout17405 ORD - 12/22/1982AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 15821, PASSED AND APPROVED ON OCTOBER 15, 1980, SO AS TO RE-ESTABLISH AND AMEND THE FOUR (4) COUNCILMANIC DISTRICTS ESTABLISHED BY SAID ORDINANCE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH ARTICLE II, PARAGRAPH 2(c) OF THE CITY CHARTER INSOFAR AS THE NUECES COUNTY VOTING PRECINCTS COMPRISING EACH DISTRICT ARE CONCERNED; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; PROVIDING A REPEALING CLAUSE; PROVIDING SEVERABILITY; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 15821, passed and approved on October 15, 1980, be amended so as to re-establish and amend the four (4) Councilmanic Districts established by said ordinance, in accordance with Article II, paragraph 2(c) of the City Charter, all as more fully set forth hereinafter; annexing hereto an official map delineating such amended districts, marked Exhibit "A," said districts being comprised as follows: COUNCIL MEMBER - Place 1 DISTRICT PRECINCTS OF THE DISTRICT 1 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 21, 30, 31, 32, 33, 38, 39, 40, 41, 44, 45, 46, 47, 49, 51, 52, 58, 62, 76, 77, 78, 79, 81, 82, 85, 88, 99, 100, 101, 103, 107, 110, and 111. COUNCIL MEMBER - Place 2 DISTRICT PRECINCTS OF THE DISTRICT 2 15, 24, 34, 42, 43, 50, 53, 56, 57, 59, 60, 61, 63, 66, 67, 68, 69, 74, 75, 80, 83, 86, 87, 96, and 113. COUNCIL MEMBER - Place 3 DISTRICT PRECINCTS OF THE DISTRICT 3 2, 5, 20, 48, 64, 71, 72, 73, 93, 94, 95, 97, 98, 106, 114, 116, 118, 121, and 123. COUNCIL MEMBER - Place 4 DISTRICT PRECINCTS OF THE DISTRICT 4 17, 18, 65, 70, 84, 89, 90, 91, 92, 109, 112, 115, 117, 119, 120, and 122. SECTION 2. That this ordinance be published once in the official newspaper of the City after final passage hereof, provided, however, that, because of printing costs, the official map, marked Exhibit "A" shall not be thus published. SECTION 3. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith shall be and are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. 1 74(15 M1CROFILMEE" 2 S 19" SECTION 4. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose. SECTION 5. That upon written request of the Mayor or five council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the immediate need for efficient and effective administration of City affairs by re-establishing and amending the four Councilmanic Districts, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency this the 22 day of December, 1982.
