HomeMy WebLinkAbout17406 RES - 12/22/1982A RESOLUTION ACKNOWLEDGING THE GIFT OF $50,000 FROM THE WARREN FOUNDATION TO THE CENTRAL LIBRARY BUILDING FUND AND EXPRESSING APPRECIATION THEREFOR. WHEREAS, the Friends of the Corpus Christi Public Libraries, appearing before the City Council during its regular meeting on December 15, 1982, announced that the Warren Foundation, administered by Mr. and Mrs. Guy I. Warren, has given a grant of $50,000 to the Building Fund of the new Central Library to supplement the $5 million bonds approved by the voters earlier this year for construction of the new Central Library; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to convey its gratitude for this generous contribution: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council hereby conveys its deep gratitude to Mr. and Mrs. Guy I. Warren, administrators of the Warren Foundation, for the grant toward the new Central Library and direct that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. and Mrs. Warren as an expression of appreciation. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to express the gratitude of the City Council to the Warren Foundation as soon as possible, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinance or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 22nd day of December, 1982.
