AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN AMENDMENT TO THE CONTRACT
WITH CALLINS, HAGGARD AND ASSOCIATES FOR ENERGY REDUCTION
STUDIES AT THE CONVENTION CENTER AREA WHICH PROVIDES FOR
A FEE NOT TO EXCEED $22,260 DURING PHASE II PORTION OF
THE CONTRACT; APPROPRIATING $22,260 FOR THIS FEE; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be authorized to execute an
amendment to the contract with Callins, Haggard and Associates for energy
reduction studies at the Convention Center area which provides for a fee not
to exceed $22,260 during the Phase II portion of this contract, a substantial
copy of which amendment is attached hereto and made a part hereof marked
Exhibit "A."
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $22,260 out of the
No. 209 Convention Center Band Fund for additional engineering fees
applicable to Project No. 209-76-7, Auditorium Improvements.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the immediate
need for efficient and effective administration of City affairs by executing
the aforementioned amendment to the contract for energy studies at the
Convention Center area so that this study can proceed in a timely manner,
such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the
Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at
three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect
upon first reading as an emergency measure this the o22 day of December,
1982.

FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES

The City of Corpus Christi, hereinafter called "City", and Callins,
Haggard and Associates, hereinafter called "Engineer", agree to the following
amendment to the contract for engineering services approved by Ordinance
No. 17170, executed on August 4, 1982.
1. Services to be Performed
Engineer and City agree that the Phase II services to be performed
have been determined from the Study Phase, and the consultant is
directed to prepare plans and specifications for the installation of
a 450 ton chiller, insulation on the north and east walls of the
Auditorium stage area and the addition of new heating units and
related work at the Auditorium dressing rooms.
2. Fees for Engineering Services
The Engineer and City agree that the final fee for Phase II services
will be fixed at a maximum amount not to exceed $22,260.00 and a
portion of the fees ($460.00) paid for Phase I work will be credited
against the Phase II fee. If engineering services are completed in
less time than anticipated, the fee will be based on an hourly rate
of 2.5 times the basic hourly rate of the individuals working on the
project. The fee will be adjusted accordingly to reflect less cost
than the $22,260.00 maximum.
