AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH AUSTIN ENGINEER-
ING COMPANY FOR THE H.E.B. PARK AREA WATER LINE IMPROVE-
MENTS AND APPROPRIATING $815,000; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be authorized to execute a
contract with Austin Engineering Company for the H.E.B. Park Area Water Line
Improvements, all as more fully set forth in the plans and specifications and
contract,documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which
are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of the Austin
Engineering Company, opened on October 6, 1982, said bid being the lowest and
most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of $815,000
out of the No. 162 Federal States Grant Fund, Activity 152-807.05, Code 502,
H.E.B. Park Water System Improvements, 7th Year Community Development Block
Grant, of which amount $782,533 is for the contract award and $32,467 is for
additional engineering, testing, legal advertising, retainage interest and
incidental and related expenses applicable to Project No. 162-152-807.05,
H.E.B. Park Area Water Line Improvements.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to
take immediate action to expedite the construction of public improvements,
such finding of an emergency is made and declare requiring suspension of the
Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at
three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect
upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 29th day of December,
1982.

and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is introduced,
or at the present meeting of the City Council.
