HomeMy WebLinkAbout17426 RES - 01/05/1983A RESOLUTION ENDORSING LEGISLATION FOR CONSIDERATION BY THE TEXAS LEGISLATURE TO GIVE CITIES THE POWER TO REGULATE BUSINESSES THAT SELL ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AND IN WHICH CERTAIN SEXUALLY -ORIENTED CONDUCT TAKES PLACE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the concept of granting cities the power to regulate businesses that sell alcoholic beverages and in which certain sexually oriented conduct takes place, which concept is embodied in Senate Bill 46 introduced in the 68th Session of.the Texas Legislature, is endorsed by this City Council. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the desire of the City Council to endorse the abovementioned legislation as soon as possible, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed ans shall take effect pon first reading as an emergency measure, this the day of �j�.��, , 1983 .
