HomeMy WebLinkAbout17456 RES - 02/02/1983A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY TO THE CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF SINTON THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI'S INTEREST IN PARTICIPATING IN A PROPOSAL TO ESTABLISH A FULL-TIME POSITION TO MONITOR CENTRAL POWER AND LIGHT COMPANY'S RATE ACTIVITIES AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the City Manager of the City of Sinton, as Executive Committee Chairman of intervening cities in Central Power and Light Company's rate case before the Texas Public Utilities Commission, has formulated a proposal to establish and fund a full-time position to monitor Central Power and Light Company's rate activities, pursuant to a motion passed and approved at the Texas Municipal League Region 11 meeting held in Beeville, Texas on August 12, 1982; WHEREAS, the City Manager of the City of Sinton has inquired of Central Power and Light Company service area cities to indicate whether they may be interested in participating in such a proposal to establish a full-time position to monitor Central Power and Light Company's rate activities; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi believes the establishment of such a position would be in the best interest of the City of Corpus Christi and its citizens and heartily supports this proposal: THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to convey to the City Manager of the City of Sinton the City of Corpus Christi's interest in participating in the proposal to establish a full-time position to monitor Central Power and Light Company's rate activities. SECTION 2. The City Manager and City staff are strongly urged to lend their support and efforts in developing and implementing such proposal as soon as practicable. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to express the City's interest in participating in the establishment of a full-time position to monitor Central Power and Light Company's rate WORMED., .(3,D 9 $1(184 activities, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rules to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this resolution is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 2nd day of February, 1983.
