AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH HELDENFELS
BROTHERS, INC. FOR THE AIRPORT COMMERCIAL RAMP EXPANSION
AND RUNWAY SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS; APPROPRIATING $805,000
FOR THIS CONTRACT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be authorized to execute a
contract with Heldenfels Brothers, Inc. for the Airport Commercial Ramp
Expansion and Runway Safety Improvements, all as more fully set forth in the
plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the
City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and
according to the bid of Heldenfels Brothers, Inc. opened on the 22nd day of
December, 1982, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City
of Corpus Christi.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $805,000 out of the
No. Airport Bond Bond Fund and FAA Grant No. ADAP-6-48-0051-12 of which
$770,476.50 is for the contract award, $9500 is for laboratory testing, and
$25,023.50 is for contingencies, engineering, legal advertising, and
related expenses applicable to Project No. 245-77-9, Airport Commercial Ramp
Expansion and Runway Safety Improvements.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to
take immediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting
the construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made
and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and
voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this
ordinance is passed a shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency
measure this the 5 ay of February, 1983.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance
or resolution, an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule
as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three
regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule
and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is introduced,
or at the present meeting of the City Council.
