AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 17298 BY AMENDING SECTION 3 IN
ORDER TO ADOPT THE FINAL ASSESSMENT ROLL FOR STREET
IMPROVEMENTS ON CALALLEN DRIVE, FROM U.S. HIGHWAY 77 TO
REDBIRD LANE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 17298, passed and approved
October 13, 1982, be amended by amending Section 3 so as to adopt the final
assessment roll and assessments levied against owners of abutting property on
Calallen Drive, from U.S. Highway 77 to Redbird Lane, a substantial copy of
which assessment role is attached hereto and made a part hereof, marked
Exhibit "A."
SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for
efficient and effective administration of City affairs by the adoption of the
final, corrected assessment roll as aforesaid, such finding of an emergency
is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to
consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular
meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first
reading as an emergency measure this theoday of March, 1983.

FROM U.S. HIGHWAY 77 TO REDBIRD LANE
MARCH 2, 1983
This project shall include improvements to Calallen Drive within the described
limits and provides for construction by excavation to a width and depth to
permit the laying of a 41 foot wide street within the 60 foot wide right-of-way.
The improvements include standard 6" curb and gutter sections, 6" thick stablized
subgrade, 10" thick flexiable base and 11/4" of Hot Mix asphaltic pavement. There
will be 4' wide reinforced concrete sidewalks, 4" thick and 6" thick reinforced
concrete driveways as shown on the plans.
This project is being constructed by the City and the State Department of
Highways and Public Transportation and is an improvement assessment project.
Based on the low bid price submitted by Heldenfels Brothers Inc., and the City's
current assessment policy, abutting property owners are assessed at the following
rates:
