AN ORDINANCE

AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH AMERICAN
ROOFING AND CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR SIX PORTABLE
BUILDINGS TO BE LEASED BY THE NUECES COUNTY COMMUNITY
ACTION AGENCY FOR THE HEADSTART PROGRAM; APPROPRIATING
$215,000 FOR THIS CONTRACT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be authorized to execute a
contract with American Roofing and Construction Company for six portable
buildings to be leased by the Nueces County Community Action Agency for the
Headstart Program, all as more fully set forth in the plans and
specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City
Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to
the bid of American Roofing and Construction Company opened on the 2d day of
March 1983, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of
Corpus Christi.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $215,000 out of the
No. 162 Federal States Grant Fund, Activity 152-807.05, Code 502, local
options and contingencies, of which $189,879.50 is for the contract award,
and $25,120.50 is for additional engineering, testing, legal advertising, and
related expenses applicable to Project No. 162-152-807.05-502, Portable
Buildings leased to Nueces.County Community Action Agency.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to
take immediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting
the construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made
and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and
voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this

ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency
measure this the 2AM►'day of March, 1983.

or resolution, an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule
as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three

and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is introduced,
or at the present meeting of the City Council.
