JOHNSTON FOR THE CONTRUCTION AND INSTALLATION OF AN EMERGENCY GENERATOR AND RELATED IMPROVEMENTS INCLUDING _ ALTERNATE NO. 1 AT THE CORPUS CHRISTI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT; APPROPRIATING $124,000 FOR THIS CONTRACT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be authorized to execute a contract with N. R. Johnston for the construction and installation of an emergency generator and related improvements including Alternate No. 1 at the Corpus Christi International Airport, all as more fully set forth in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of N. R. Johnston opened on the 30th day of March 1983, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $124,000 out of the No. 245 Airport Bond Fund of which $100,774 is for the contract award, $13,660 is for architectural fees and construction inspection, and $9,566 is for additional engineering, testing, legal advertising, and incidental and related expenses applicable to Project No. 245-77-10, Emergency Generator, award subject to FAA approval and the issuance of a grant. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to take immediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting the construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed a d shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the4""`may of April, 1983.
