AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH CCM UTILITY
CORPORATION FOR THE SOUTH STAPLES SANITARY SEWER
TRUNKLINE EXTENSION, PHASE I PROJECT; APPROPRIATING
$225,000 FOR THIS CONTRACT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be authorized to execute a
contract with CCM Utility Corporation for the South Staples Sanitary Sewer
Trunkline Extension, Phase I project, all as more fully set forth in the
plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the
City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and
according to the bid of CCM Utility Corporarion opened on the 16th day of
March 1983, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of
Corpus Christi.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $225,000 of which
$102,171 is from the No. 250 sanitary Sewer Bond Fund and $122,829 is from
the No. 108 Sanitary of which appropriation $202,996.35 is for the contract
award, and $22,003.65 is for additional engineering, testing, legal
advertising, payment of $1,000 for crop damage, and incidental and related
expenses applicable to Project No. 250-82-6, South Staples Street Sanitary
Sewer.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to
take immediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting
the construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made
and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and
voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this
ordinance is passed d shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency
measure this the 17dayof April, 1983.
