HomeMy WebLinkAbout17571 ORD - 04/20/1983AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH A. ORTIZ PAVING & CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR THE WASHINGTON-COLES AREA STREET IMPROVEMENTS, PHASE III PROJECT; APPROPRIATING $220,000 FOR THIS CONTRACT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be authorized to execute a contract with A. Ortiz Paving & Construction Company for the Washington -Coles Street Improvements, all as more fully set forth in the plans and specifications and cont act ocuments on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of A. Ortiz Paving & Construction Company opened on the 23d day of February 1983, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $220,000 of which $170,889.37 is out of the No. 162 Federal States Grant Fund, Department 152, Activity 807.06, Code 502, Washington -Coles Area Street Improvements, Phase III, and $49,110.63 is out of the No. 220 Street Bond Fund of which $190,621.15 is for the contract award, and $29,378.85 is for additional engineering, testing, legal advertising, and incidenatal related expenses applicable to Project No. 220-77-2.23, Washington -Coles Area Street Improvements, Phase III. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to take immediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting the construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this MlCR©F1L qa) SEP 2 81984 ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the% ay of April, 1983.
