AMENDING THE ELECTRICAL CODE BY ESTABLISHING THE
REQUIREMENT THAT ELECTRICAL SERVICE ENTRANCE EQUIPMENT BE
PROVIDED WITH MINIMUM LEVELS OF FAULT CURRENT PROTECTION;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF JULY 1, 1983;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERENCE; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 13-96 of the Electrical Code of the City of
Corpus Christi, adopted by Ordinance No. 16823 passed and approved by City
Council on January 20, 1983, is hereby amended by adding paragraph (1) to
hereafter read as follows:
(1) MINIMUM FAULT CURRENT PROTECTION: All electrical service
entrance equipment, except for temporary construction loops, shall be
provided with fault current protection of not less than 22,000 amps., in
addition to that required by Section 230-98 of the National Electrical Code.
SECTION 2. The effective date of this ordinance shall be July 1,
1983.
SECTION 3. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision,
clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or
unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it
shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase,
word, or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this
City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word
or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose.
SECTION 4. Publication shall be made in the official publication
of the City of Corpus Christi one time, which publication shall contain the
caption stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance.
