HomeMy WebLinkAbout17646 ORD - 06/15/1983AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OFA CONTRACT WITH R. S. BLACK FOR THE BAYFRONT BARGE DOCK RAMP AND IMPROVEMENTS; APPROPRIATING $133,000 FOR THIS CONTRACT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a contract with R. S. Black for the Bayfront Barge Dock Ramp and Improvements, all as more fully set forth in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of R. S. Black opened on the 1st day of June 1983, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $133,000 from the No. 209 Convention Center Bond Fund of which appropriation $115,400 is for the contract award and $500 is to supplement funds in the contract with Charlie Bellah, project consultant, and $17,100 is for additional engineering, testing, legal advertising, and incidental and related expenses applicable to Project No. 209-76-1.5, Barge Dock Entrance. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to take immediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting the construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed anand shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the /S d.ay of June, 1983.
