AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE UPON APPLICATION OF
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI BY CHANGING THE ZONING MAP IN
REFERENCE TO AN AREA BETWEEN THE NORTH AND SOUTH BOUND
LANES OF SOUTH SHORELINE BOULEVARD FROM "A-2" APARTMENT
HOUSE DISTRICT TO "B-2" BAYFRONT BUSINESS DISTRICT; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has forwarded to the City Council
its reports and recommendations concerning the application of the City of
Corpus Christi for amendment to the zoning map of the City of Corpus Christi;
WHEREAS, public hearing was held at which hearing all persons
wishing to appear and be heard were heard, to consider the same before the
City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, in accordance with proper notice
to the public, said public hearing having been held on Wednesday, June 15,
1983, at Regular Council meeting of the City Council in the Council Chamber
at City Hall in the City of Corpus Christi; and
WHEREAS, by motion duly made, seconded and carried, it was decided
by the City Council that to approve the hereinafter set forth amendment would
best serve public health, necessity and convenience and the general welfare
of the City of Corpus Christi and its citizens:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, is amended by making the change hereinafter set out.
SECTION 2. That the zoning on the hereinafter described tract of
land described as an area within the breakwater south of the Kinney Street
extension and the area between the north and south bound lanes of South
Shoreline Boulevard south of Kinney Street south to McCaughan Park, situated
in the City of Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, be changed from "A-2"
Apartment House District to "B-2" Bayfront Business District:
BEGINNING AT A POINT, the intersection of the centerline
of "southbound" South Shoreline Boulevard and the
westerly extension of the south line of the existing
parking lot on the north end of "McCaughan Park" for a
corner of the tract herein described;
THENCE in a northerly direction, along the centerline of
said "southbound" South Shoreline Boulevard, to its
intersection with the existing "B-2" zoning line crossing

the existing parking lot immediately south of the
existing City Hall building, for a corner of this tract;
THENCE in an easterly direction, along said existing
"6-2" zoning line, to its intersection with the
centerline of "northbound" South Shoreline Boulevard for
a corner of this tract;
THENCE in a northerly direction, along the centerline of
said "northbound" South Shoreline Boulevard, to its
intersection with the easterly extension of the
centerline of existing Kinney Street for a corner of this
tract;
THENCE in an easterly direction, with the easterly
extension of the centerline of existing Kinney Street and
with the existing "B-2" zoning line, across water, to its
intersection with an existing structure commonly referred
to as the "breakwater" for a corner of this tract;
THENCE in a southerly direction, along said existing
"Breakwater" to its intersection with the south line of
an existing "walkway" attached to and for all practical
purposes being a part of an existing structure commonly
referred to as the "Magee Beach concession" for a corner
of this tract;
THENCE in a westerly direction, with the south line of
said existing "walkway" to its intersection with the
centerline of existing "northbound" South Shoreline
Boulevard for a corner of this tract;
THENCE in a southerly direction along said centerline of
existing "northbound" South Shoreline Boulevard to its
intersection with the easterly extension of the south
line of said existing parking lot on the north end of
"McCaughan Park" for a corner of this tract;
THENCE in a westerly direction with the south line of
said existing parking lot on the north end of "McCaughan
Park" to its intersection with the centerline of
"southbound" South Shoreline Boulevard for the POINT OF
BEGINNING, being approximately 27.00 acres, more or less.
SECTION 3. That the official zoning map of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, be and the same is hereby, amended as herein ordained.
SECTION 4. That the Zoning Ordinance and Map of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, approved on the 27th day of August, 1973, as amended from
time to time, except as herein changed, shall remain in full force and
effect.
SECTION 5. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby expressly repealed.
SECTION 6. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for
efficient administration of City affairs by granting the aforesaid zoning
change, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring
suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances
or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed an
shall take fect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the /

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance
or resolution, an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule
as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three
regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule
and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is introduced,
or at the present meeting of the City Council.
