HomeMy WebLinkAbout17676 RES - 06/29/1983A RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the Jobs Training Partnership Act provides for the creation of Service Delivery Areas (SDAs); and WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi and the balance of Nueces County have been designated an SDA; and WHEREAS, SDAs are required to appoint Private Industry Councils (PICs); and WHEREAS, the designated SDA has tentatively appointed such a PIC consisting of thirteen (13) members; and WHEREAS, a request for certification of the PIC has been submitted to the Governor's office for review and certification; and WHEREAS, the PIC is empowered to determine its size in membership; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the Private Industry Council is hereby requested to expand its membership to fifteen (15) members with one member to be representative of a community based organization and one member to be representative of the private business sector. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the immediate need for efficient and effective administration of City affairs by requesting that the Private Industry Council expand its membership, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 449 day of ATTEST: y Secreta y MAYOR THE CITY ' F CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS , 1983.
