COUNTY OF NUECES §
On the 29th day of June, 1983, at a duly called meeting of the City
Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, with a quorum for transaction
of business in attendance, and upon motion made, seconded and duly passed,
the following Resolution was adopted:
WHEREAS the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, contemplates the execution of a contract with the Texas
Department of Community Affairs for an approximate maximum amount of TDCA
liability of One Hundred and Fifty Thousand ($150,000) dollars and for the
provision of the rehabilitation and the development of public park and
recreation areas via landscaping during the approximate period of July 1,
1983, to October 1, 1983, and
WHEREAS it has been duly determined that the City of Corpus Christi
has the legal authority to render the aforedescribed contractual performance,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi
does hereby approve and authorize the City's execution of the aforedescribed
contract and does hereby authorize Edward A. Martin, City Manager, or his
designee, to sign and execute the aforedescribed contract on behalf of the
City so as to legally obligate and bind the City to all the performances,
obligations, terms, and provisions set forth therein.
The necessity and urgency for immediate application for financial
assistance from the Texas Department of Community Affairs by Public Law 98-8,
as promptly as possible, creates a public emergency and an imperative public
necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and
the Mayor, or five Council members, having declared such emergency and
necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule
and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and

take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS
ACCORDINGLY SO RESOLVED, this the

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance
or resolution, an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule
as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three
regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule
and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is introduced,
or at the present meeting of the City Council.
