HomeMy WebLinkAbout17681 ORD - 06/29/1983:t TIF AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 17593 ADOPTED ON MAY 11, 1983, WHICH AUTHORIZED THE CLOSING OF THE 1200 THROUGH 1500 BLOCKS OF NORTH SHORELINE BOULEVARD ON JULY 15, 1983, THROUGH JULY 17, 1983, FOR A FERIA HISPANICA FESTIVAL, BY DELETING THE PROVISION FOR OBTAINING 100 PERCENT OF ABUTTING PROPERTY OWNERS' APPROVAL; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 17593, adopted on May 11, 1983,.. which authorized the closing of the 1200 through 1500 blocks—of North Shoreline Boulevard on July 15, 1983, through July 17, 1983, for the purpose of permitting the Mexican Unity Council to use the streets, sidewalks, medians and seawall to host a Feria Hispanica Festival, is hereby amended by deleting Subsection G in Section 2 which requires the sponsor to obtain 100 percent of all abutting property owners' approval on streets to be closed. SECTION 2. All other provisions of Ordinance No. 17593 shall remain in full force and effect. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for immediate and efficient use of the City's streets in order to protect public safety which demands the prompt attention of the Council, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the day of June, 1983.
