HomeMy WebLinkAbout17687 RES - 07/06/1983A RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF UNITED STATES NAS CORPUS CHRISTI REQUEST FOR ALLOCATION IN THE 1985 BUDGET FOR PURCHASE OF CLEAR ZONES WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi supports the United States NAS Corpus Christi request for allocation in the 1985 Defense Budget to purchase clear zones at the end of runways NAS Corpus Christi, NALF Waldron, and NALF Cabaniss; and WHEREAS, the citizens of the City of Corpus Christi on the 29th day of February, 1982 voted and passed a $5 million general obligation bond for the purpose of land acquisition for airfield protection and to eliminate development encroachment into these hazard areas; and WHEREAS, protection of lives and property of the citizens of the City of Corpus Christi was recognized by approval of this $5 million bond issue for purchase of these areas until the United States Government appropriates funds for the purchase of these areas; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi request that Senator Lloyd Bentsen, Senator John Tower, Congressman Solomon Ortiz, and the Department of Defense support the allocation for funds in the 1985 Defense Budget for purchase of clear zones; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Council of the CiCorpus Christi support the request of the United States NAS Corpus Christi for appropriations to purchase these clear zones and that a copy of this resolution be furnished by the City Secretary of the City of Corpus Christi to the appropriate gover Senators.
