AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE UPON APPLICATION OF
JACK MARTIN, TRUSTEE, BY CHANGING THE ZONING MAP IN
REFERENCE TO A PORTION OF LOT 11, BLOCK 6, GARDENDALE
UNIT 1, FROM "R -1B" ONE -FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT TO "B-1"
NEIGHBORHOOD BUSINESS DISTRICT; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has forwarded to the City Council
its reports and recommendations concerning the application of Jack Martin
for amendment to the zoning map of the City of Corpus Christi;
WHEREAS, public hearing was held at which hearing all persons
wishing to appear and be heard were heard, to consider the same before the
City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, in accordance with proper notice
to the public, said public hearing having been held on Wednesday, July 6,
1983, at Special Council meeting of the City Council in the Council Chamber
at City Hall in the City of Corpus Christi; and
WHEREAS, by motion duly made, seconded and carried, it was decided
by the City Council that to approve the hereinafter set forth amendment would
best serve public health, necessity and convenience and the general welfare
of the City of Corpus Christi and its citizens:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, is amended by making the change hereinafter set out.
SECTION 2. That the zoning on the hereinafter described portion of
Lot 11, Block 6, Gardendale Unit 1, situated in the City of Corpus Christi,
Nueces County, Texas, be changed from "R -1B" One -Family Dwelling District to
"B-1" Neighborhood Business District.
Being the Southeast two-thirds of Lot Eleven (11), Block
Six (6), Gardendale, a subdivision of the Southwest 1/2
of Section Three (3), Flour Bluff and Encinal Farm and
Garden Tracts of Nueces County, Texas, and more
particularly described by metes and bounds as follows:
Beginning at the south corner of said Lot Eleven (11),
the same point being common to the west corner of Lot Ten
(10) in said Block Six (6);
THENCE N 29° E, along the southeast boundary line of said
Lot Eleven (11), 300 ft. to the east corner of Lot Eleven
(11) for the east corner of this tract;

THENCE N 61° W, along the northeast boundary line of said
Lot Eleven (11), 132' ft. to a point for the north corner
of the tract herein conveyed;
THENCE S 29° W, along a line parallel to the southeast
boundary line of Lot Eleven (11) and 132' ft. northwest
therefrom, a distance of 300 ft. to a point on the
southwest boundary line of said Lot Eleven (11) and the
northeast boundary line of Cain Drive, for the west
corner of the tract herein conveyed;
THENCE S 61° E, along the southwest boundary line of said
Lot Eleven (11), the same being the northeast boundary
line of Cain Drive, 132' ft. to the place of beginning
and for the south corner of the tract herein conveyed,
and containing approximately 0.91 acres.
SECTION 3. That the official zoning map of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, be and the same is hereby, amended as herein ordained.
SECTION 4. That the Zoning Ordinance and Map of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, approved on the 27th day of August, 1937, as amended from
time to time, except as herein changed, shall remain in full force and
effect.
SECTION 5. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby expressly repealed.
SECTION 6. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for
efficient administration of City affairs by granting the aforesaid zoning
change, such finding of an emergency is made and declared
suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon
or resolutions

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance or resolution,
an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting
upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you
suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance or resolution finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council. '
