HomeMy WebLinkAbout17707 ORD - 07/13/1983AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 15190 ESTABLISHING A FUND FOR SELF-INSURANCE FOR LIABILITY CLAIMS TO PROVIDE FOR PROMPT ADMINISTRATIVE ACTION IN SETTLING CLAIMS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Section 3 of Ordinance No. 15190 of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, be amended by substituting therefor the following: The City Manager is authorized to establish administrative procedures for the settlement and payment of claims not exceeding five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) per claim. The settlement of claims in excess of five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) shall be subject to the approval of the City Council expressed by motion. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the immediate need for efficient and effective administration of City affairs by establishing the aforementioned administrative procedures at the earliest practicable date, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the day of June, 1983.
