AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH AUSTIN
TRAFFIC SIGNAL CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR THE TRAFFIC
SIGNALIZATION CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS AND MODERNIZATION
PROJECT; APPROPRIATING $135,000 FOR THIS CONTRACT; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute
a contract with Austin Traffic Signal Construction Company for the Traffic
Signalization Capital Improvements and Modernization project, which includes
the installation of new signalization at three intersections and
modernization of traffic signalization at five existing signalized
intersections, all as more fully set forth in the plans and specifications
and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of
which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Austin
Traffic Signal Construction Company opened on the 29th day of June 1983, said
bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $135,000 of which
$28,000 is from the No. 162 Federal/States Grant, Department 152, Activity
807.04, Code 462, Sixth Year Community Development Block Grant and $107,000
is out of the No. 220 Street Bond Fund, of which total $128,529 is for the
construction contract and $6,471 is for additional change orders, laboratory
testing incidental and related expenses applicable to Project No. 220-77-20.4
Traffic Signalization Capital Improvements.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need to
take immediate action to preserve and protect public property by expediting
the construction of public improvements, such finding of an emergency is made
and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and
voting upon ordinances or resolutions at three regular meetings so that this

ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency
